In central India, there are hills ofquartzitic sandstone with many small cavesand rock shelters. This is a major site ofPalaeolithic and Mesolithic art (Old andMiddle 'Stone Age'). The cave paintingsare of similar age to those of the famousLascaux cave in southern France, butare far more numerous. Small roundedhollows, carved or hammered into therock, are some of the oldest in the world.This short report left me wanting more.
