摘要

The ISO General Assembly held on 15-16 September 2004 at Geneva, Switzerland was attended by an Indian delegation comprising of Shri Nirmal Singh, DG, BIS; Smt. Parminder Bajaj, Sc. F & H (IR&TISD), BIS, and Dr Sarita Nagpal, Principal Counsellor, Cll Institute of Quality. In his welcome address, ISO President Mr Oliver Smoot stated that through globally relevant and useful International Standards, ISO contributes to positive globalization and sustainable development. During this meeting, valuable presentations and addresses were made by the I EC President Dr Sei-Chi Takayanagi, Mr Reinhard Scholl, representing, Mr Houlin Zhao Director ITU-TTSB (International Telecommunication Union, Telecommunication Standardization Bureau). In all these presentations,- the importance of International Standards, the increased interaction between ISO, IEC and ITU as well as the role of ISO with WTO was stressed.
