To remove a bottleneck at its hot strip mill, Sidor has implemented four software scheduling modules resulting in an increase in the length of rolling campaigns by 17 percent and slab stock availability of 166 percent. Sidor, CA is an integrated steel complex located in Venezuela and member of the Techint Group. It produces steel by direct reduction of iron ore to produce DRI which is charged to AC electric arc furnaces. Its wide product mix enables the company to serve an important range of industries and activities such as oil and gas, construction, automotive, home appliances, packaging and canning, hot dip galvanising lines, distributors and service centers. Output in 2005 was close to 5Mt.
