Equipment for determining the mobility of blast-furnace slag in furnace operation has been developed and tested. On the basis of research at the casting doors of the blast-furnace shop, the MgO and Al_2O_3 content corresponding to high slag mobility is established. The dependence of the slag mobility on the hot-metal temperature, the basicity of the slag, and the MgO and Al_2O_3 content in the slag is determined.
