The term "Smart Grid" has been around for some time now, so chances are that you have heard it used, but you may not feel you really know what it means. It's actually fairly simple. The "grid" refers to the electric grid, a network of transmission lines, substations, transformers, and other equipment that deliver electricity to your home or business. And the "Smart Grid" is actually just referring to a renovation of the existing electric grid system. Evolving to a Smart Grid means implementing technology, tools, and techniques to enable the grid to run more efficiently and reliably and meet our nation's growing energy demands.
