Analysis of the ferroalloy market outside Russia shows that consumers of ferroalloys are very interested in 75 percent ferrosilicon with regulated impurity (Al, Ca, P, Ti, C) content and specified fractional content. As we know, creating small fractions of ferrosilicon leaves a significant unusable residue because of the low mechanical strength of the basic structural components and the precipitated excess phases. In chemical composition, the 75 percent ferrosilicon produced in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) meets the requirements of All-Union State Standard GOST 1415-78: alloys FS75, FS75F2.5, FS75(1), and FS75(el) contain 74-80 percent Si and 0.02 percent S. The impurity content is no more than the following (percent): According to the prospectus of Elkem Metals (Norway), its 75 percent ferrosilicon has a somewhat lower impurity content (Table 1).
