ONE GLANCE at our all-sky map shows a delightfuldichotomy between the realm of winter's departingstars and the kingdom of those arriving in spring. On the whole the winter constellations are muchbrighter, and they contain seven 1st-magnitude starscompared to spring's three. What's more, all the brightwinter constellations are corralled together, whilespring's bright bunchings are strewn sparingly across avast region of sky.
