SUPER STAR CLUSTER R136 resides near the center ofthe Tarantula Nebula(NGC 2070) in the Large MagellanicCloud. Astronomers once thought that R136 was a singlesuper star of several thousand solar masses. But HubbleSpace Telescope images such as this clearly resolve it intoa cluster populated by thousands of luminous stars.
