In a paper in Spectrochimica Acta, Barrett provided a cogent article concerning the role of carbon dioxide in the 'greenhouse effect' of the atmosphere [1]. Later, in the same journal Brater-man attempted to refute Barrett's paper [2]. But Braterman does not criticise Barrett's calculations. Braterman makes an assertion which includes an error, presents an analogy which he assesses incorrectly, and then asserts that this disproves Barrett. But it does not. Indeed, correct assessment of Braterman's assertion and analogy would concur with Barrett's calculations.
