摘要

The shell microstructure was studied based on extensive material of Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous brachiopods from the orders Rhynchonellida, Terebratulida, and Thecideida. Evolutionary changes in relationships between the shell layers of thecideids were revealed; the narrowing of fibers in historical development of rhynchonellids was established; the importance of the prismatic layer for taxonomy was recognized; and differences in width and shape of fibers within the superfamilies of rhynchonellids and terebratulids were determined.
