One of the jobs I look forward to each fall is shaking trees in our native grove. Driving from tree to tree with the shaker gives me the opportunity check tree health, and as I shake the tree, the sound of nuts hitting the tractor's roof gives me a good feel for this year's production.Recently, I was backing up to a large native tree when I discovered that our shaker wouldn't fit on the trunk. Since no tree trunk is perfectly round, I pulled away from the tree and slowly drove around the tree to find the narrowest point on the trunk.Luckily, I found the perfect spot and the shaker barely fit on the tree. Fighting to get a shaker around a big tree got me thinking.
