摘要

Body weight and egg capsule weight of the terrestrial flatworm Arthurdendyus triangulatus were examined in Benmore Botanic Garden and adjacent pastureland, these respective areas being poor and rich in earthworm species. Flatworms and egg capsules were significantly larger (factor 2-3 and 2, respectively) within pastureland compared with the botanic garden, reflecting lumbricid prey food resources available. Superimposed on this habitat-specific pattern for A. triangulatus was a seasonal trend, individual body weight of both life-stages decreasing from June to September, then increasing by the following April/June. Our study highlights earthworm prey resource variation between sites as a key factor determining the size structure of flatworm populations.
