I read the article, "Localized juvenile spongiotic gingival hyperplasia: A report of 3 cases" by Solomon et al. in the issue of Pediatric Dentistry, Vol. 35(4), Jul/Aug, 2013, with great interest. I have seen two young patients (both were female) at different times and different places with gingival lesions very similar to those in Case 1 and Case 3 of their article. In one of my patients, a biopsy was performed; the histological picture was similar to those described in the article also. I did hematological examinations on both patients; they both turned out to have severe neutropenia. In fact, I have reported one of those cases some years ago.'
