The kyoto protocol was addopted by the supreme body of the un framework convention on climate change at its third conference of parties in 1997 and entered into force on 16 february 2005.The kyoto protocol agreed legally binding targets for developed countries to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases (Ghg)by at least 5.2% compared with 1990 levels by 2008-2012.
