ROYAL Dutch Shell is to find "new heartlands" as a platform for upstream growth, such as Canada's unconventional oil resources. The firm says it is "rejuvenating its portfolio for a world of higher and more volatile commodity prices, increased competition and higher costs". Beyond the rhetoric, the company says its reserves held steady in 2007, but has warned investors that real growth in production would probably not occur until after 2010.
