The European Union (EU) issued a directive in 200 / that,by 2010,22% of electricity consumed in the region should be sourced from renewable energy.As a result,EU Member States are compelled to start focusing on renewable energy-however,not everyone is following the same strategy.Some Member States have been slow to respond,while others have been more proactive and seized the opportunity to utilise renewable energy to their advantage,writes David Niles,Data monitor Energy and Utilities Analyst.
