The Norwegian government is reported to have approved the development concept for Eni's (operator; 65%) Goliat field, the first oil field to be developed in the Barents Sea. StatoilHydro holds the remaining 35% stake in the project, which is expected to cost some $4.34bn. Goliat is located on production licences 229 and 229B in waters depths of some 400 metres.
