Professor Jim Skea was the recipient of the Energy Institute's (El) 73rd Melchett Award, given for outstanding work involving the scientific preparation or use of energy, and named after Lord Melchett, one of the first El Presidents. The current El President, James Smith, introduced Skea, noting that he works in the 'vital area' between technology, policy and industry. 'It is here that we will achieve success or failure... there is no one more suitable for this award,' he said.
