摘要

This is the first of two papers in a special feature on pollinators in France. Regional communities have important role to play in halting the decline of insect pollinators that has occurred over the past few years, and the planting of meadow flowers offers an interesting solution to the problem, on condition that appropriate species choices are made and suitable management options are implemented. Details are given of suitable nectar-producing flowers for pollinators, including wild flowers, and annuals, biennials, and perennials that flower in the winter (January to March) and at the end of autumn. Management options are also briefly discussed. It is noted that the presence of insect pollinators in towns has the additional advantage of increasing biodiversity.
