摘要

EPA's Children's Health Protection Advisory Committee(CHPAC)agreed on a draft letter Oct.25 asking the agency to provide its Human Subjects Review Board with further clarifications on its proposed rule to govern the use of human subjects in pesticide testing.CHPAC is a 25-member body of researchers, academicians, health care providers, environmentalists, children's advocates, professionals, government employees, and members of the public who advise EPA on regulations, research, and communication issues relevant to children. From the outset of the session on the Committee's draft letter to EPA,a number of members expressed confusion about the agency's proposed human studies rule, saying that its wording was unclear about what exemptions it would specifically allow for pesticides to be tested on pregnant women and children.
