Senate Environment and Public Works Committee Chairman James Inhofe(R-Okla.)has put a hold on chemical security legislation due to concerns the bill allows the Department of Homeland Security(DHS)to force chemical facilities to adopt inherently safer technologies(IST).Inhofe also contends his committee should be given the chance to consider the legislation because it gives DHS the authority to regulate security at drinking water and wastewater facilities.
