The Food and Drug Administration(FDA)has requested public assistance in identifying medical products that can expose patients to bisphenol A,a component of plastics that has raised concerns over its effects on human health,particularly development in young children.Because bisphenol A(BPA)is a frequent component of packaging materials,the agency is also specifically seeking information relating to the leaching of the chemical from containers to their contents.FDA announced the request for information in an Oct.15 Federal Register notice and is accepting comments through Dec.29.
