The European Commission has been advised to set up a mandatory register for nanomaterials and warned that the REACH chemicals regulation could let nanotechnologies slip through the net.The recommendations came in a series of three reports - two background papers and a study - that the commission asked consultants Milieu and Risk and Policy Analysis (RPA) to draw up for a stakeholder conference on nanotechnologies in Brussels Oct. 9. The reports will add to growing calls for regulations, including a register for this emerging technology.
