EPA has embraced a new vision with its Strategic Plan for Evaluating the Toxicity of Chemicals — one echoing the 2007 National Research Council report that foresees a move away from costly, time-consuming in vivo animal models in favor of in vitro testing, high throughput screening assays and computational biology.
