Bayer CropScience confirmed last month that it will end the sale of endosulfan to all countries where it is still legally available. The company stopped producing the insecticide/acaricide in 2007. The confirmation came in the form of a letter from Judith Nestman, head of investor relations at parent company Bayer, to a coalition of non-governmental organizations. "We are aware that the proper use of pesticides cannot be ensured under specific conditions in some countries of the developing world. That's why the corporation has committed itself to progressively replace World Heath Organization Class I products especially in those countries," Nestman writes in the letter.
