A plant disease is poised to blight U.S.soybean fileds with virtually no opposition,state officials were warned at a recent conference.The disease,soybean rust,has become established in Brazil.Although no one knows when it might invade the United States,it's believed likely to emerge somewhere in the Southeast,USDA scientists said at the Dec.9 meeting of the State FIFRA Issues Research and Evaluation Group.
