Parties to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer last week gave their approval for methyl bromide critical use exemptions(CUEs)for 2006,with developed countries agreeing to a level that is about 20 percent lower than the CUEs approved for 2005,the United Nations said.Representatives of the 189 signatories to the treaty held their second extraordinary meeting of the parties in Montreal July 1 to finalize approval for a portion of the CUEs for which the parties granted "interim" approval at their regular annual conference last November.
