The widely-used biopesticide Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) needs assistance from gut bacteria in order for its insecticidal properties to work,a new study suggests.A team of researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison found that enteric bacteria are "largely responsible for the [blood poisoning] associated with B.thuringiensis-induced mortality in gypsy moth larvae," the study states.
