Canada's pesticide regulatory agency has proposed guidelines for low-risk biochemicals and non-conventional pesticides that relax the requirements for establishing the safety of these products compared to conventional pesticides.Low-risk biochemicals and pesticides covered by the proposed guidelines include natural plant and insect regulators,naturally occurring repellents and attractants,enzymes,foodstuffs,natural minerals,certain devices and certain types of plant extracts and essential oils.Synthetic analogues of the low-risk biochemicals and pesticides also fall under the proposed guidelines,but pheromones and semiochemicals are covered by separate proposed guidelines.
