Researchers have pointed to melting glaciers as a possible culprit behind the constant levels of DDT in Antarctic penguins.DDT and other persistent chemicals follow atmospheric pathways to the Arctic and Antarctic and end up in the snow and ice.Although DDT has been banned from use in most countries since the 1980s,Adelie penguins in the Antarctic continue to have the same level of the insecticide as they did 30 years ago.
