Environment and health groups have welcomed a May 6 vote by the European Parliament that will mean more research into cancer prevention as a result of exposure to chemicals in the everyday environment.In a resolution drafted by Slovene center right Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Alojz Peterle, from the largest political group, the European People's Party, Parliament backed the European Commission's proposal to set up a European Partnership for Action Against Cancer for the period 2009-2013 to support member state efforts to tackle cancer.
