DuPont Nov.20 signed an EPA consent order guaranteeing drinking water with less than 0.5 parts per billion(ppb)of perfluorooctanoic acid(PFOA)to Ohio and West Virginia residents living near the company's Washington Works plant near Parkersburg,W.Va.Under the consent order,DuPont will provide alternate drinking water or install treatment systems to remove the chemical if its levels in water from public or private wells reach the 0.5 ppb action level.A previous consent order signed in 2002 set the PFOA action level at 150 ppb.
