The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health did not receive any responses to a request for information on carbon nanotubes, the agency reported last week. At the same time, EPA has clarified Significant New Use Rules (SNURs) it issued in June regarding two carbon nanotubes. The NIOSH request, published in the April 8 Federal Register, sought information on possible health effects observed in workers exposed to carbon nanotubes, workplaces and products in which carbon nanotubes can be found, workplace exposure data and information on control measures, among other items.
