In its most recent spate of criticism leveled at the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson, Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER) last week claimed DEP scientists "had to run the political gauntlet" to publish a study that derived a safe drinking water level for PFOA. PEER'S evidence includes an Oct. 28-29, 2008 e-mail exchange between then-DEP Commissioner Jackson and staff members. PEER posted the e-mails on its Web site on July 8.
