Representatives of European Union member states have once again reached deadlock over controversial bans by France and Greece on the cultivation of Monsanto's MON810 transgenic corn variety.Meeting last week in the EU's Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health,member-state representatives failed to reach a qualified majority either for or against European Commission proposals asking the two member states to repeal their "safeguard measures" against the cultivation of MON810.Under EU rules, the issue will now be referred to the Council of Ministers.
