The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) last week examined a French study that found evidence of liver and kidney toxicity in Monsanto's MON863 transgenic corn variety.The French Committee for Independent Research and Genetic Engineering (CRIIGEN) reported this month that its counter-evaluation of a 90-day rat feeding trial by Monsanto showed signs of toxicity in rats fed MON863,which was approved for human consumption in the European Union last year.Pesticide & Toxic Chemical News last week reported incorrectly that the French researchers had conducted their own rat feeding study.
