Biological efficacy of Actara 25 WG insecticide against mango sucking pests

A field trial was conducted to assess the bio-efficacy of insecticide Actara 25WG, a Thianicotinyl compound against mango sucking pests viz., mango hopper (Idioscopus niveosparsus) and mealybug (Rasfrococcus sp.) in comparison with insecticide monocrotophos 36 SL. The results indicated that spraying Actara 25WG @ 50 and 100 g a.i. ha~(-1) two times, once at the beginning of flowering and second at the full bloom stage checked the hopper infestation. It also reduced the colonisation of mealybugs on fruits when a spray was given to check the mealybug infestation. Among the three doses of Actara 25WG, 50 and 100 g a.i. produced statistically on par level of reduction in pest population of hoppers after each spray.
