Johannesburg-Sasol announced it has commissioned and "achieved beneficial operation" at its third 1-octene train at Secunda, South Africa (PCN, 19 June 06, p 1). The new line, based on Sasol's own process technology, has the capacity to produce 100,000 t/y of 1-octene for customers in North America, Asia and North-West Europe. The project had initially been scheduled for completion in the second half of 2007.
