Shuaiba-Equate Petrochemical Co. said commercial operations have started at The Kuwait Olefins Co.'s (TKOC) new 600,000-t/y ethylene glycol (EG) plant in Shuaiba, Kuwait (PCN, 14 July 08, p 3). TKOC is part of the Olefins II project, which includes an 850,000-t/y ethane cracker and downstream production of polyethylene and ethylene oxide, and involves Equate as the single operator. Equate is a joint venture of Kuwait's Petrochemical Industries Co., Dow Chemical Co. and Boubyan Petrochemical Co.
