Columbus-Hexion Specialty Chemicals Inc., in reporting a net loss of $180-million in its second quarter results, said the loss includes a $167-million write-off for previously deferred costs associated with its planned acquisition of and merger with Huntsman Corp. because the transaction is "not likely to be consummated" (PCN, 28 July 08, p 1).
