Calgary-Nova Chemicals is reviewing its earlier decision to eliminate 15% of its workforce as a result of its recent acquisition agreement with International Petroleum Investment Co. (IPIC) of Abu Dhabi (PCN, 2 Mar 09, p 1). In January, Nova said it planned to reduce its staff by 400 positions as part of a restructuring that could yield an additional $400-million cash on an annualized basis (PCN, 12 Jan 09, p 2). The plan included streamlining its olefins and poly-olefins business and "completely restructuring" its performance styrenics business.
