Sao Paulo-Solvay Indupa, part of Belgium's Solvay Group, has notified Brazilian officials that it is discontinuing the production of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) at its plant in Santo Andre, Sao Paulo, Brazil. Closing the plant, earlier listed as having 85,000 t/y of HDPE capacity, will optimize fixed costs and allow the company to concentrate on its strategy of being the leading polyvinyl chloride (PVC) producer in the region, the company said.
