Karachi-Lotte Pakistan PTA, formerly Pakistan PTA Ltd., is considering construction of a second purified terephthalic acid (PTA) production line at its Port Qasim site in Pakistan. The company, renamed to reflect the 2009 acquisition of a 75% interest by the Lotte's KP Chemical subsidiary, was recently reported to have 400,000 t/y of PTA capacity (PCN, 19 Apr 2010, p 4). A local source said the plant was modernized last year, increasing capacity to about 507,000 t/y.
