Leung—Epoxy resin producer Leuna-Harze GmbH has awarded Uhde a contract for construction of a turnkey membrane electrolysis plant in Leuna, Germany, with 15,000 t/y of chlorine production capacity. "This, the world's first skid-mounted chlor-alkali electrolysis plant," will be based on Uhde's membrane technology and a concept developed by AkzoNobel, Uhdenora and Uhde that enables the economic viability of plants with annual capacities of up to 15,000 tons of chlorine to be improved, explained Uhde.
