Seoul-LG Chem said it plans to build a new 80,000-t/y crude acrylic acid plant at its Yeosu complex in Korea, which will increase its total acrylic acid capacity to 240,000 t/y.The company currently operates three acrylic acid units in Yeosu and Naju that use Nippon Shokubai technology. In 1998, LG developed its own oxidation catalyst and has since applied that catalyst to its production.
