Istanbul-Turkey's Turcas, in a statement to the Istanbul Stock Exchange, said it has been notified "that a payment of half the privatization . . . was made to the Privatisation Administration" for the acquisition of 51% of petrochemical producer Petkim, reported Reuters. A consortium of Turcas, Injaz Projects and Azerbaijan energy company Socar was identified as the winning bidder in Petkim's privatization, with their offer of $2.04-billion for the 51% interest (PCN, 31 Mar 08, p 2).
