Fort Mill-Wellman last week signed a letter of intent with an investor group, to sell its engineering resins business in Johnsonville, S.C., as part of its plan of reorganization (PCN, 29 Sept 08, p 1). The Johnsonville facility has the capacity to produce over 70-million lbs/yr of engineered plastics. Other assets included in the sale are a 235-million-lb/yr polyester staple fiber unit and a 190-million-lb/yr polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottle recycling operation. The sale is expected to be complete in mid-October.
