Houston-Sterling Chemicals said it has entered into an amended, long-term acetic acid production agreement with BP that is effective retroactive to 1 Jan. 2008. As a result of the extended agreement, Sterling said the first capacity expansion step will be taken in the spring of 2009 when capacity of its Texas City, Texas, acetic acid plant will be increased by 100-million lbs/yr to a new capacity of approximately 1.2-billion lbs/yr.
