Tokyo-A Japanese consortium, led by Mitsubishi Gas Chemical, has started up its new 80,000-t/y dimethyl ether (DME) plant at Mitsubishi's Niigata site in Japan (PCN, 12 Feb 07, p 4). The ￥465-million plant, which uses methanol feedstock, is expandable to 100,000 t/y. Mitsubishi will be responsible for operation of the DME facility.
