Beijing-China National Offshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC) and LG Chem have signed an agreement to form a joint venture to build a new 300,000-t/y acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) unit in Guangdong, China, according to reports quoting LG. CNOOC & LG Petrochemicals Co., the new 50-50 joint venture company to be located in Beijing, will invest $370-million in the ABS facility. The plant will initially have a capacity of 150,000 t/y, starting in 2011, and will increase to 300,000 t/y by 2013.
